This really completes the book and takes it to another level. This set of five guided meditations is narrated by the author and is indispensable if you truly want this ground-breaking work to come alive for you. These guided meditations follow the teachings in the book -- AND they amplify what you can learn from the book by itself. Combined with the book, the free companion workbook, and the central guided meditations, you will add to your learning experience.
Through the use of enhanced learning meditative states, you will learn how to breathe in such a way that the body is calmed and the mind is stilled. Then you will learn how to take your attention in the midst of the silence and focus it on the Christ living within you. More importantly you will learn how to claim your identity as a child of Creation, rather than as a product of adapting to this world. Next, you learn how to use breathing to produce connection to Christ. The ancient Hebrews understood that the act of breathing and the presence of the Holy Spirit were one and the same. In this guided meditation you will learn how to take Scripture and experience the spiritual within the text. Finally, you will learn how to confront you own personal demons with the knowledge of who you are in Christ. You will experience a massive re-understanding of who you really are in this guided meditation.
Tracks include:
The Christ Within. In modern Western Christianity, we have forgotten the intuitive, right-brained way of perceiving in which the Aramaic culture (including Jesus the Christ) lived their lives. In this deeply relaxing guided meditation, you learn how to still your mind of its many voices and locate the voice of the Christ dwelling within you. In opening this aspect of your inner being, you learn how to validate yourself from who you are as a child of Creation, rather than who you are in someone else's mind. It is immensely freeing and can become the core of your identity rather than seeking external validation, which will always point you in directions that are inconsistent with your spiritual nature.
Ruah -- the Breath of God. Using Biblical verse in the ancient Lectio Devina Christian spiritual tradition, the seeker is introduced to a deep meditation where you learn to breathe the very breath of the Christ as He breathes the Gift of Life into you. After the resurrection, Christ appeared to his disciples and breathed the Holy Spirit onto his disciples. Experience this. Ruah is the ancient Hebrew word for Holy Spirit, wind, air, the breath of life, and the gift of life. In this guided meditation, you learn to breathe in the breath that brought life into being and to breathe out as you claim the peace beyond all knowing.
Voices on the Stage of the Self. In this guided meditation, you learn to discern the different voices that exist in the mind. You will discover that your thoughts can betray you. And as you learn to still the mind and calm the body, you become an observer of the voices that make up your thoughts. This guided meditation is based on Romans 7:14-22. It is Biblically accurate, while opening up a powerful understanding of how we get swept away from our desire to serve a purpose greater than the self.
Reclaiming the Self. In this guided meditation, you learn how to distinguish between the various parts of your divided mind. You learn how to observe thought that would have you believe that you are less than who you could be. In particular you learn how to "repent" in the old Christian and Aramaic notion of the word. You learn how to turn back to(repent) who you are as a child of God, rather than to focus your awareness on who you are in THIS world. It is a profound difference. This is where you learn to find where peace is located within you.
Be Still Meditation. This guided meditation takes us back to stillness, and the sheer sound of the silence that gives us access to the very grounding of Judeo-Christian spirituality. Using Psalms 46:10, you are moved beyond a literal (and cognitive understanding) recital of words to the opening of the possibility of being in relationship with the Source of all being. Using Bible verse in the form of the Christian meditative practice of Lectio Devina, you learn how to harness Scripture to catapult you into the sheer silence where you can be in the presence of your Creator.
These guided meditations are only for curious Christian seekers who are exploring a deeper understanding of what Christianity can be. It is not for people who are seeking absolute answers. These meditations (and the book) will open more questions about your spiritual nature (and its relationship to the world of your body and mind) than it will answer. And if your are an explorer, this will be part of your seeking.
